Edward Steven Yeoman

Edward “Ed” Steven Yeoman, 92, of West Lafayette, died at Franciscan Health Lafayette on Tuesday July 21, 2026. Born at Jasper County Hospital in Rensselaer, IN on June 20, 1934 to the late George and Genevieve Yeoman.

Ed graduated from Rensselaer High School in 1953 before attending Michigan State University. On July 16, 1955, he married the love of his life, Genelyn Sigo, in Remington, IN. They shared more than five decades of marriage until Gene's passing on June 14, 2008.

Ed dedicated much of his career to Purdue University's College of Veterinary Medicine, where he lovingly cared for the animals. He was hired in 1965 as a Farm Superintendent for the Laboratory Animal Care department then around 1975 he became a member of the professional staff as a VTH Facility Manager. He remained in that position until retiring in 1997.

In retirement, he continued serving his community as the assistant manager of the West Lafayette Farmers Market. His passion for Purdue extended well beyond his career. He proudly supported Purdue Women's Athletics as a longtime program seller for women's basketball and volleyball and was also associated with the women's field hockey program. A devoted advocate for women's sports, Ed was one of their most enthusiastic supporters.

Service to others was a defining part of Ed's life. He served as an assistant Scout leader with Blessed Sacrament Church, was a charter member of the Wabash Township Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years and was an active member of Knights of Columbus Council 8056. His faith was equally important to him. As a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and later St. Thomas Aquinas Church, he faithfully served as both an usher and a Eucharistic Minister.

Ed will be remembered as one of the kindest people anyone could meet. He found great joy in giving back to others whenever he could and approached every season of life with gratitude. His warm sense of humor, lighthearted spirit, and genuine kindness made those around him feel welcome and appreciated. Through his unwavering generosity, faithful service, and love for family, friends, and community.

Survived by his 7 daughters, Barbara Gotham (Douglas) of West Lafayette; Carolyn Clem of Cutler, IN; Bonnie McQuinn (Scott) of Forest, IN; Annette Britton (Theodore) of Battleground, IN; Mary McDaniel of Lafayette; Rita Jackson (Steven) of Lafayette; Eleanor Comer (Matthew) of Maysville, KY; a son, Jon Yeoman of West Lebanon, IN; grandchildren, Arika, Eddie, Christopher, Cassie, Beau, Jonathan, Kelsey, Courtnay, Brittaney, Melissa, Teddy, Tyler, Katie, Valarie, Matthew, Ross, Clare, Evan, Hannah, Faith and Hope; 32 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister Georgia Bone of Nokomis, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and siblings, Beverly Bassett, Robert, George Douglas, William David, and Steven Yeoman, and son-in-law Neal Clem and daughter-in-law Cindy Yeoman.

Friends may call at Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home in Lafayette from 10:30 AM until time of funeral service at 11:30 AM on Monday, July 27th. Fr. David Buckles will be officiating the funeral. Entombment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to the Wabash Township Volunteer Fire Department or charity of donor’s choice.
