Dorothy Watson

Dorothy M. Watson, 91, of West Lafayette, IN died Monday December 7, 2015 at University Place Assisted Living. She was born January 12, 1924 in Auburn, New York, to William F. Moses, Sr. and Marjorie Muth Moses. Her marriage was to Jack R. Watson in Auburn on October 21, 1950 and he preceded her in death in 2006. Dot received her degree from Rider College and spent many years as the administrative assistant to the principal of Greece Athena Jr/Sr High School in Rochester, NY. She and Jack moved to West Lafayette in 2001 and resided at University Place where they found a loving community of friends and staff. She enjoyed knitting items for her grandchildren and playing with them, travel with Jack, bowling and golf. She was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church in Greece and more recently, Covenant Church in West Lafayette. She is survived by her daughter, Jane W. Southwood (John) of Knoxville, TN, and a son Robert A. Watson (Lyn) of West Lafayette. Her grandchildren are Amy Carey (Craig), Ryan Watson, Cara Rathke (Josh), Mark (Carol), Christopher (Jessica) and Andrew (Micah) Southwood. Great grandchildren are Savannah, Addison, Jackson, Hunter and Everly Dot Southwood along with Lila and Eleanor Carey, and Brayden Rathke. Also surviving is a brother, Col. William F. Moses, Jr. (ret.) (Helen) and brother-in-law William Watson, along with many loving nieces and nephews. A service of remembrance will be held 2:00 PM Saturday January 9, 2016 in the Great Room at University Place, West Lafayette, Rev. John Southwood officiating.
