Dora Anstett

December 11, 1912 — February 6, 2010

Dora E. Plant Rowe Anstett, 97, of Lafayette, died at Clarian Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, IN. 8:10 P.M. Saturday February 6, 2010 where she had been a patient for the past 6 days. Born in Herscher, Illinois December 11, 1912, the daughter of the late Fred I. and Mary Louise Raymond Plant, her family moved to Fowler, IN. in 1915. She graduated from Pine Township High School in 1932, and married John Carl Rowe October 18, 1933 at Fowler, IN. and he died April 21, 1954. Upon Mr. Rowe's death, Dora moved to Lafayette, and worked for Haywood Publishing. In 1959, she married John W. Anstett, and he preceded her in death June 1, 1995. Mrs. Anstett later worked as a cook at the H4 Building at Purdue University, Wolcott High School, and at the Indiana Veterans Home until retiring in 1978. She volunteered with Sister Veronica's group, sitting with the elderly. Mrs. Anstett loved to crochet, do word books and help where she was needed. She also enjoyed bird and people watching. Surviving are 2 daughters, Carolyn Fassnacht (husband Walter) of Lafayette, IN.; Lois Dring (husband Ronald) of Tampa, FL.; and 3 sons, Eugene "Gene" Rowe of Lafayette, IN.; Byron Rowe (wife Karen) of Brookston, IN. and Ronald Anstett (wife Chris) of Williamsport, IN. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Preceded in death by a sister, Rose Morris; 2 brothers Arthur and Raymond Plant and a grandson, Tony Rowe. Dora was a loving friend to all and a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Her devotion to the Eucharist and Rosary never ended. Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, 1104 Columbia St. from the Rosary at 3:45 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, St. Lawrence Church, Fr. Dan Gartland officiating. Graveside services 1:00 P.M. Wednesday Sacred Heart Cemetery, Fowler.
