Donald Szarka, Sr.

Donald James Szarka, Sr, 71, of Oxford, IN passed away at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette Tuesday Feb. 20, 2018 where he had been a patient the previous six days. He was born in Chicago, IL June 30, 1946, the son of the late Frank and Elva Schuer Szarka. Donald was the retired owner and operator of Albert’s Cartage Company in Chicago. He loved riding his Harley Davidson and was a member of the Harley Davidson “Hog” Club. Surviving is a son, Donald J. Szarka, Jr. of West Lafayette; a daughter, Dawne Morman of Lansing, IL; his fiancé, Serina Martino of Oxford, IN; a step-son, Xavier Outten of Oxford; two brothers, Frank Szarka of Natalia, TX; Alan Szarka of Chicago, IL; a sister, Elva Szarka of Dalton, IL and a granddaughter, Destinee Lynn Szarka. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday March 3 in the Oxford West Cemetery, Oxford, IN, Pastor Linda Sproull officiating.
