Donald Joseph Crowe, 84, of Lafayette, died at St. Elizabeth East 1:26 AM Sunday June 17, 2012 where he had been a patient since Wednesday. Mr. Crowe had been in failing health the past 6 months.
Donald was born in Lafayette July 2, 1927, the son of the late Charles and Mae Carberry Crowe, and was a graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School. He married Dorothy J. Allison at St. Lawrence Church in Lafayette September 6, 1952, and she survives.
Mr. Crowe was employed by Borden's Milk Co. for 26 years, and later was employed by General Foods for 10 years before his retirement in 1992. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and had served as an usher. Donald was an avid volunteer at Central Catholic and was an election poll worker for the Democratic Party for many years. During World War II he served in the US Navy.
Surviving with his wife is a Daughter, Donna Crowe Wooten (husband Jerry) of West Lafayette, IN.; a son, Jerry Crowe (wife Angela) of Otterbein, IN.; 2 sisters, Mildred Buckles of West Point, IN. and Mary Bloyd of West Lafayette; 6 grandchildren, John, Susan and Sara Wooten; Lindsey Fausset (husband Grant), Alicia Wozniak (husband Matt and Marissa Crowe and by 2 great-grandchildren, Evelyn Wozniak and Bellamy Fausset. He was preceded in death by a son in infancy, Gary J. Crowe and by 2 brothers, Charlie and Bob Crowe.
Friends may call from the time of the Rosary at 4:45 PM until 7 :00 PM Tuesday at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM Wednesday, St. Lawrence Church, Fr. Dan Gartland officiating. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery with military graveside rites.
