Donald Leroy Clute

Donald Leroy Clute, 96, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at 3:36 PM. Donald was born in Fowler, Indiana on October 1,1927. He was the son of the late Charles and Vera (Forshey) Clute. Donald was raised in Benton County and graduated from Fowler High School in 1945. Upon graduation Donald served in the United States Marines until being discharged in 1952. On June 20,1954, Donald married Janet L. Deardorff at the Congress Street Methodist Church in Lafayette. 

Donald started farming in 1954 and farmed all of his life in Benton County. He served on the Federal Land Bank Board, he was a Benton County Councilman, and also served as a Benton County Commissioner for many years. Donald participated in many Habitat Home Builds in Mississippi with his wife Janet. He was a member of the Oxford United Methodist Church.

Donald leaves behind; his daughter, Beth Clute, Durham, NC; two sons, Keith Clute (Shawn), Fowler, and Kirk (Dana) Clute, Oxford; 12 grandchildren, Jennifer (Dan) Maruszewski, Sharpsville; Adam Chambers, Franklinton, NC; Kyle (Jami) Clute, Pine Village; Ashlee (Jeb) Cleveland, Fayetteville NC; Alissa (Eric) Sauer, Raleigh, NC; Austin Chambers, Wilmington, NC; Kevin (Sarah) Clute, Fowler; David (Ericha) Clute, Pine Village; Kc (Dallas) Griffith, Fowler; Lindsey (Matthew)Weaver, Sheridan, WY; Marie Clute, Oxford; and Abigail Clute, Lafayette; 13 great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Maruszewski, twins Audrey and Emily Maruszewski, Resa Cleveland, Jeb Jr. Cleveland, Avery Clute, Rozlynn Clute, Raeya Chambers, Dorothea Sauer, Brayden Clute, Melina Clute, Olivia Clute, Bryce Clute, Patricia Harris, Corey Lindstrom, Kennedy Hueston,; 2-great-great-grandchildren Karson Lindstrom and Brantley Lindstrom; and several special nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his wife Janet Clute, his sister Alice Fellure and one great-grandson Kevin Lindstrom.

Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, Oxford, IN from 1 until 2 PM Sunday January 21, 2024. Funeral services will be held at the Hahn- Groeber Funeral Home, Oxford 2 PM on Sunday, with Pastor Linda Sproull officiating. Burial will follow at Fowler Cemetery, Fowler, IN.
