David Andrew Ortega, 33, of Scottsburg, Indiana, formerly of the Lafayette area, died suddenly and unexpectedly Friday December 10, 2010 at his residence in Scottsburg. Born October 21, 1977 in Lafayette, IN. the son of Rafael Ortega and Jane E. Jennings Stiles, he attended McCutcheon High School and had resided in Scottsburg the past 6 years. Mr. Ortega had worked as a cook for various restaurants in the Scottsburg area. He enjoyed cooking, watching horse racing, attending car shows and spending time with family and friends. Surviving is his mother and step-father, Jane and Dave Stiles of Monticello, IN.; his father and step-mother, Rafael and Norma Ortega of West Lafayette, IN.; 2 daughters, Breanna Nichole Ortega of Lafayette, IN.; Avereigh Jade Ortega of Scottsburg, IN.; a son, Devlin Andrew Ortega of St. Louis, MO.; 2 brothers, Ralph Ortega, Jr. (wife Asha) of West Lafayette, IN.; Jose A. Ortega of Lafayette, IN.; 2 step-brothers, Davey Stiles (wife Lisa) of Monticello, IN.; Joe Salazar (companion Elisa Bon Villian) of West Lafayette, IN.; and 2 step-sisters, Kimberly Sharp (husband Mike) and Tammy Foster, both of Monticello, IN. ; and his companion, Ashleigh Shapinsky of Scottsburg, IN. He was preceded in death by 2 grandmothers, Geraldine Killian and Magdalena Hurtado. Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette, from noon until the service at 1:00 PM Thursday, Pastor Chris Murphy officiating.
