David Alex Eisele

David Alex Eisele ("Hey Man") passed away in the early morning hours of July 16 at IU Methodist Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones.

David was born on December 23, 1957, in Rensselaer, IN, to Harold and Betty Eisele, who survive him. After graduating from Rensselaer Central High School in 1976, he met the love of his life, Lisa DeFries of De Motte, IN. They were married on September 24, 1977.

David and Lisa welcomed their first child, Chadd Eisele, in 1978, followed by their beloved daughter, April Eisele, in 1980. Shortly after graduating from high school, David joined the Laborers' Union # 41 and began working at the steel mills in northern Indiana.

In 1985, David and Lisa moved their family to Lafayette, where David transferred to Laborers' Local union #274. He spent the majority of his career as a hod carrier for Don Scharer Masonry. From 2000 to 2005, he was also part owner of Millennium Masonry. After retiring from the Laborers' Union, David founded Quality Masonry, a local residential masonry business. Through his craftsmanship and dedication, he left a lasting mark on the Lafayette community, helping countless homeowners with their masonry needs.

In his younger years, David loved playing sports, especially baseball. Throughout his life, he enjoyed many hobbies. He loved spending time on the water with family and friends, and crappie fishing was his favorite pastime. David also played men's softball for nearly 20 years and was an active member of the Greater Lafayette Horseshoe Pitchers Association for almost another 20 years before turning his passion to golf.

David always emphasized the importance of family, and that love became even more evident in his later years as he welcomed his grandchildren. He never knew a stranger, and it seemed everyone he met became a friend. He was also a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bears, Purdue fan and fantasy football.

David is survived by his devoted wife, Lisa Eisele; his son, Chadd (Katie Spencer) Eisele; his daughter, April Eisele; and his grandchildren, Cole Eisele, Auna Silver, and Jackson Silver, all of Lafayette. He is also survived by his parents, Harold and Betty Eisele of Monticello, IN; his brother, Chipper Eisele of Bloomington, IN; and his sister, Bonnie Eisele of Bloomington, IN. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jeffrey Eisele and Harold Eisele.

David taught and inspired many throughout his life, whether through his family or his work in the masonry trade. His kindness, work ethic, and willingness to help others will be remembered by all who knew him. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and everyone whose lives he touched.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 25, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 noon at Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home in Lafayette. Interment will follow at Spring Vale Cemetery.
