Kendrick, Daniel F. “Dan” Long-time Lafayette resident and businessman Dan Kendrick, 87, passed on to eternal life January 12, 2018, surrounded by family. A native of Michigan, Dan was a proud graduate of Michigan State, a Marine, and a husband, brother, father, and grandfather. Dan and his family came to Lafayette in 1970 when he launched the Kendrick car dealership, which he helmed until his retirement in 1994. During those years, Dan was an active civic leader and good business partner in the community, including supporting Lafayette Catholic Schools, Purdue University, and United Way. Dan’s enthusiasm for life’s adventures never waned, and his retirement years were robust. He divided his time between Lafayette and Lake Freeman in Monticello, and winters in south Florida. He actively pursued his passions --- enjoying boating, especially sailing, long-distance bike riding, fishing, and tennis, as well as the simpler things in life – family, a good cigar, a beautiful sunset, and the annual family Euchre card tournament. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marilyn, and four children, Deanne Haag (Shawn), Marty (Kyle), Mary O’Toole (Peter), and Matt (Lori), 11 grandchildren, his sister Sally Goss (Joe) and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would also like to acknowledge and thank the caregivers and community at Westminster Village, where he and Marilyn have lived well for the last 3 years. A Celebration of Dan’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 2018, at St. Mary Cathedral in Lafayette, Ind. with Father Kyle Neterer officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Dan can be made to Lafayette Catholic Schools at www.lcss.org and United Way of Greater Lafayette at www.uwlafayette.org. Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, Lafayette is honored to care for the Kendrick family. Memories and condolences may be left at www.hahngroeberfuneralhome.com
