Creed Smith, Jr.

Creed C. Smith, Jr., 62 of Lafayette, passed away at his residence in Lafayette unexpectedly Wednesday August 30, 2017. He was born in Lafayette October 14, 1954, the son of the late Creed C. Smith, Sr. and Patricia J. Leach Smith. Creed was a graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School and served in the U. S. Navy from 1973 until 1979. He married Maria C. “Mary” Castillo in Lafayette Sept. 6, 1985 and she survives. Creed retired from the Lafayette Fire Department in 2007 after 25 years of service and was still working for Creed’s Plumbing. He was a member of the Navy Club, Ship 12; the American Legion Post 11; and enjoyed playing golf and fishing. Surviving with his wife, Mary are two sons, Christopher Patrick Smith (fiance Katie Clayton) of Indianapolis; Jason Paul Smith of Lafayette; by two sisters, Robin Smith and Susan Nice (husband Eric) both of Lafayette; and by three brothers, Willim T. “Bill” Smith, John Smith and Rick Smith all of Lafayette. Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette from 9:00 AM until the Fireman’s Last Alarm Service at 9:45 AM, followed by the funeral service at 10:00 AM Tuesday Sept. 5, Pastors Bill and Pam Mickler officiating.
