Cliffie Horney

Cliffie Kayrene Horney, 73, of Clarks Hill, IN. died in the emergency room at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, IN. 11:08 AM Sunday July 28, 2013. Cliffie was born in Cave City, AR. October 4, 1939, the daughter of the late Clifton and Sillar Hardin. She was first married to Ray Hastings, and they divorced. She then married John Shumaker and he preceded her in death. On May 17, 2003, she married Eldon L. Horney in Malvern, AR. and he survives. Cliffie was a Licensed Practical Nurse, and had worked at the Hot Springs, AR. County Memorial Hospital until retiring in 2003. She attended Liberty Chapel Church while living in Malvern, AR., and attended Linden United Methodist Church in Linden, IN. Cliffie enjoyed the outdoors, along with fishing and gardening, and was devoted to her family. Surviving with her husband is a daughter, Gina Lowery (husband Dean) of Malvern, AR.; a son, Jason Hastings (wife Brandy) of Orlando, FL.; a step-daughter, Shirley S. Downham (husband Gerry) of Lafayette, IN.; two step-sons, Larry W. Harshman (companion Dawn McClenahen) of Indianapolis, IN.; and Garry D. Horney (wife Kandi) of Colfax, IN.; two brothers, Mark Hardin of Superior, WI., Melvin Hardin of Clovis, CA.; and by two sisters, Betty Van Pelt (husband Rip) of Bald Knob, AR. and Bobbie Kuhns (husband Steve) of Kansas CIty, MO. Also surviving are six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dana Little and by a brother, Mitchell Hardin.
Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, Linden, IN from 5:00 PM until the service at 7:00 PM Wednesday, Pastor Lamont Bonath officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Malvern, AR., with Regency Funeral Home assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the Linden United Methodist Church.
