Clara Ethel Jackson, 80, of West Point, IN. died at Rosewalk Village Healthcare in Lafayette 7:15 PM Thursday Nov. 15, 2012 where she had been a patient the past 3 months.
Clara was born in Tompkinsville, KY. September 10, 1932, the daughter of the late Theodore and Ermie Turner Geralds, and was a 1948 graduate of Tompkinsville, KY. High School.
She married John William Jackson at Tomkinsville, KY. May 1, 1948, and he preceded her in death October 7, 2007. Mrs. Jackson was a member of the former West Point Baptist Church, and assisted her husband in farming. She had worked at Fairfield Manufacturing for 20 years, retiring in 1999. Clara loved gardening, cooking, canning, sewing and especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda Kaye Kinslow (husband Elvin) of Winston-Salem, NC.; Kathy Summerfield (husband Bill) of West Lafayette, IN.; Kemla Starr Nelson of Crawfordsville, IN.; a son, Kenny Wilson Jackson (wife Helen) of Linden, IN.; and two sisters, Ruby Sturgeon of Crawfordsville, IN.; and Marge "Polly" Bartley (husband Rex) of Tompkinsville, KY. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, James Geralds and a sister Barbara Kerr.
Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette, from 4 until 6 PM Sunday. Funeral services 10:30 AM Monday at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Stedge officiating, with interment following in West Point Cemetery. If friends desire, memorials may be made to the Shriner's Childrens Hospital in Chicago, IL.
