Charles Hatke

Charles H. "Charlie" Hatke, 83, of Lafayette, died in Richmond, IN. Friday June 20, 2014. Charles was born in Lafayette April 26, 1931, the son of the late Fred Bernard and Lucille (Neville) Hatke. He was a graduate of West Lafayette High School and a graduate of the Purdue University School of Pharmacy. Over his career he worked at several pharmacies in Lafayette including Donahue Drugs, Arth Drugs, Wells-Yeager Best, and was retired from Marsh Supermarket. Charles was an Army veteran having served from 1954-1956. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. Charles had resided the past four years in Richmond, Indiana, but his love for his hometown of Lafayette and for the Purdue Boilermakers was evident to everyone he met. Charles is survived by his children, Kelly A. Baumgartner (Rhett) of Richmond, Indiana, Thomas M. Hatke (Shelia) of Memphis, Tennessee, and Michelle Palmer of Phoenix, Arizona. Grandchildren, Lauren Gallagher, Kiersten Baumgartner, Austen Baumgartner, Tarah Baumgartner, Brice Baumgartner, Alexandra Palmer, Sydney Palmer, Charlie Hatke and Rachel Hatke, Kristen Frisby, Samantha Seals, and Jessica Frisby. He is survived by one sister, Jean (Ed) Connon. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim Hatke and Fred Hatke; and four sisters, Catherine "Kay" Keil, Frances "Tootie" Klutzke, Anna Mary Breedlove, and Irma May. A Rosary will be held at 4:45 PM Monday, followed by visitation from 5 until 7 PM Monday at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lafayette at 10:30 AM Tuesday, Fr. Tim Alkire officiating, with interment to follow at St. Boniface Cemetery.
