Charles Green

Charles R. Green, 67, of Fowler, died at St. Elizabeth Central Medical Center in Lafayette at 6:53 P.M. Wednesday February 24, 2010 shortly after admission. Mr. Green had been in failing health the past 5 years. He was born in Lafayette September 6, 1942 the son of the late Clarence and Eva German Green, and attended Fowler schools, and had lived in Fowler all of his life. He married Bonnie S. Sheppard at Kentland, IN. August 9, 1974, and she survives. Mr. Green was a truck driver for 25 years, and later worked for the Indiana Department of Transportation, Fowler District for 10 years, before retiring due to ill health. He was a member of the American Legion at Fowler and Earl Park; attended the Fowler Baptist Church, and enjoyed fishing, golf and playing video golf games, as well as spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving with his wife are 2 daughters, Kristina K. Cavitt of Lafayette, IN.; Amanda J. Salazar (companion Jeff Daughenbaugh) of Fowler, IN.; 3 sons, Rod C. Green (wife Aimee) of Boswell, IN.; James D. Reynolds (wife Stacy) of Goodland, IN. and Jeff S. Kelly of Fowler, IN.; a brother Glen Green (wife Bea) of Boswell, IN. and a sister June Edwards (husband Harold) of Garden Grove, CA. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, Nick & Olivia Green; Michael & Zachary Tarter; Daniel & Rolando Salazar; and Azlee Reynolds, and a sister-in-law, Mary Green, who helped raise him and along with her family has helped care for him the last few years. Preceded in death by 2 brothers. Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, Oxford, from 4 until 7 P.M. Monday. Funeral at HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, Pastor Tony King officiating. Interment to follow at Fowler Cemetery. If friends desire, memorials to the Benton County Cancer Society or charity of the donors choice.
