Beatrice (Bea) Louise Steiner, age 91, died on May 20, 2025. Beatrice was the 11th of twelve children born to the late Louis A. and Rosa Schafer on July 1, 1933. Beatrice graduated from St. Francis High School in Lafayette. Beatrice married Bernard J. Steiner at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lafayette on January 8, 1955.
Bea worked in administration at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette and later worked in the Micro Graphics Department at the State Farm Regional Office. Beatrice played the organ for St. Charles in Otterbein for 25 years. In later life, she was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Cathedral as well as a member of the Altar & Rosary Society, the Bereavement Ministry, and a prayer warrior.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bernard J. Steiner, and their son Gerald Steiner. Survivors include her daughters Jeanette Adams (James) & Phyllis Steiner; sons Ralph Steiner (Elizabeth), Robert Steiner (Kimberly), Vincent Steiner (Sarah), John Steiner (Robin) & Carl Steiner (Lisa); and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Rosary service will be held at 9:15 a.m. on Monday June 2, 2025, with a viewing to follow at 9:30 a.m. Fr. Joshua Janko will officiate the Mass of Christian Burial starting at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Cathedral, Lafayette. The interment service will be held at the Oxford Catholic Cemetery, Oxford, IN immediately after Mass.
