Alice Weddle

Alice Lorraine Weddle, 88, of Lafayette, died at St. Mary's Healthcare in Lafayette 10:35 PM Sunday August 11. 2013 where she had been a patient the past 17 months. Alice was born in Perrysville, IN. September 8, 1924, the daughter of the late William and Eulah Orvina Sowers Maffette. Her first marriage was to Lois "Jeff" Jeffries and they later divorced. She then married Earl Weddle and he preceded her in death in 1998. Alice was a homemaker and a member of the former Liberty Chapel Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Lois Ann Benefiel, Christina Charles, and Janet Grant (husband Cary) all of Lafayette, and Carolyn Payne of Salem, Oregon; a brother, William Maffette (wife Connie) of Monticello, IN. and by two sisters, Vera Waymire of Brookston, IN. and Mildred Golden of Attica, IN. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Garvin and Shirley Maffette.
Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette from noon until the service at 1:00 PM Friday, Terry Johnston officiating, with interment to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
